PlantTech's Quality Assurance Program - Seed Integrity Preservation
PlantTech is a National Quality Assured company which produces all seed under a structured and documented trace of evidentiary records for all tasks relating to seed production known as Seed Integrity Preservation (SIP).
The Seed Integrity Preservation (SIP) Scheme is for the purpose of producing seed of known varietal identity and purity. This stringent scheme is independently audited by Seed Services - a Division of the Department of Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA).
This level of Quality Assurance will provide the agricultural industry with a unique to the seed industry system that will deliver seed that can be readily identified as being of the best possible quality and genetic purity.
Becoming a Quality Assured Seed Company means that PlantTech's SIP Scheme is a framework based on the principles of the OECD seed certification scheme. The Scheme was established by PlantTech because we believe that reliable information about the varietal purity and identity of the seed our customers buy is imperative. We are committed to the supply of first class quality seed to farmers throughout Australia.
Purchasing seed from PlantTech means that it has been approved through our SIP Quality Assurance System, the key benefits of purchasing this Quality Assured seed are:
- Minimal risk of Genetic impurities (or off-types) which rapidly increase where farmer retained seed is used
- Reduced risk of spreading weed seeds (especially herbicide resistant weeds) the risk of spreading weed seed around your farm is always present if you use seed of uncertain purity or origin
- Grain buyers are becoming increasingly insistent on quality assured grain of specific varieties with premiums being obtained by some company's purchasing grain of known identity
- Minimises the risk of spreading seed borne diseases in pulse crops
- Seed certificates covering germination, purity, disease and testing for known GMO events in Brassica crops, ensure that you are getting value for money and not introducing undesirable weeds, disease or contaminated crop seed
- Seed paddocks have been inspected by trained inspectors following strict protocols
